AquaMarine Diving Bali AquaMarine Diving - Bali operates 1 day dive trips and multi-day dive safaris throughout Bali. We are a small operation specializing in quality scuba diving tours. Custom dive trips are our specialty. Dive Tulamben for the Liberty Wreck and superb macro underwater photography, Secret Bay for weird muck critters, Nusa Penida for Mola Mola (in season), Sharks and Mantas, or combine all these into a customized dive safari. Indonesia diving is among the best in the world, Bali diving is an easy and inexpensive way to see the best of Indonesia.
Our experienced dive guides and instructors (both local and international) will make your dive holiday a safe and enjoyable experience. From first-time divers to experienced underwater photographers, AquaMarine welcomes all who love the sea and marine life to share our underwater treasures in Bali.
EQUIPMENT & GUIDES AquaMarine divers use Oceanic and Aqualung dive gear, with Camaro wetsuits (very comfortable). We have Bauer Mariner compressors. Currently, all dive guides are Indonesian and speak English and Japanese. They have all either been trained by an AquaMarine instructor or a dive instructor well-known (to AquaMarine). The dive guides all know every dive site in Bali like the back of their hands, which gives AquaMarine led divers an advantage over dives led by newly hired ex-pat dive guides. Our guides have been visiting the sites for many years. Each guide has had safety procedures drummed into them and is totally reliable in all respects.
BALI DIVE SITES Bali's many and diverse dive sites offer an exceptional diving experience for all levels of divers. From protected shallow bays with exotic scorpionfish, octopus and nudibranchs to exciting drift diving in wild currents with sharks, mola mola and manta rays, Bali Indonesia has it all.
Tulamben Tulamben has become Bali's most famous diving area and therefore where you are most likely to meet internationally recognized underwater photographers and writers. Tulamben Bay, like the rest of Bali, is situated in the richest marine bio-geographic zone in the world. Tulamben is on the north-east coast, the bay receives very plankton-rich waters from the major ocean current that moves from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean. This coupled with the fact that the three main dive sites provide totally different physical environments, mean that Tulamben contains a stunningly diverse underwater ecosystem.
Amed Amed is located on the north-east coast of Bali. By car, about 15 mins south of Tulamben, along the main road, and then 15mins on a local road, so Amed is much prettier than Tulamben. Due to the easy conditions at Amed, it is suitable both for novice and experienced divers. On the outskirts of Amed, you can see traditional salt-panning and buy sea salt as a souvenir of your visit. Immediately outside Jemeluk Bay are 2 dive sites, Amed Wall and Amed Reef, both of which can be done as a shore or boat-dives. The boats are small outriggers (jukung) - long and narrow fishing boats.
Secret Bay While Bali offers great diversity of dive sites, Gilimanuk Bay (or Secret Bay as it is known locally) is unique within Bali. It is the very definition of muck-diving. No rich coral reefs, no depth to speak of, it is in basically a site for macro-photographers and for the occasional recreational diver looking for something different from the norm. Secret Bay contains many rare macro-photography subjects that include nudibranches, dragonets (including both the colorful Mandarinfish and Picture Dragonet), abundant seahorse/pipefish, unusual scorpionfish, frogfish, eels, and many, many other organisms.
Menjangan Island It was in 1978 that Menjangan became Bali's first internationally-known dive location. Consequently, in older dive guidebooks, Menjangan is described as having beautiful reef flats. Unfortunately that is no longer true. On a more positive note, Menjangan is actually famous for the wall-diving. The walls descend to varying depths, the shallowest being 26meters, the deepest 60meters+. The walls offer the greatest diversity of gorgonian fans in Bali. They generally start at 10meters with the flat coral reefs offering gentle conditions and lots of sunlight. These are full of medium and small fish. The walls are full of small nooks and crannies, overhangs and bigger cavelettes, crevasses, etc. They are covered with soft corals, gorgonian fans, sponges.
Padangbai Amuk Bay, with the villages of Padangbai to the south and Candidasa to the north, is about 6 kms across and located along the south side of Bali's eastern point. Just north of Padangbai is the Blue Lagoon, a treasure-trove of marine life. Two islands (Tepekong and Mimpang) outside the bay, and Biaha a little to the north, offer some of the most breath-taking diving in Bali. However, due to conditions, these 3 sites need to be treated with care and respect. Biaha is however, currently, Annabel's (the owner of AquaMarine) #1 dive site.
Nusa Penida Nusa Penida is the largest of 3 islands off the southeast coast of Bali. The water here is fairly cold but often startlingly clear, with gorgeous corals and prolific fish, with some turtle, shark and in season, Mola-Mola (the weird and wonderful Sunfish). AquaMarine offers nine dive sites at Nusa Penida. The majority of diving at Nusa Penida is drift-diving and the currents are not always predictable.
Day Dive Trips All the dive sites in Bali are available for day trips. Choose a destination. AquaMarine will pick up and drop off from any hotel.
AquaMarine is located in Legian (quieter than Kuta, popular with westerners who live here) in the south-west of Bali just north of Kuta (young, backpackers) and within 30 min. of the two other main tourist areas of Nusa Dua (5 star hotels) and Sanur (more middle-aged Europeans). As the dive sites we visit are located a few hours north-east and north-west, we travel through some very pretty Balinese countryside, seeing rice terraces, coastline, rural villages and Bali's most revered volcano, Mount Agung on our journeys. Guests only need to bring their certification cards and logbooks (please let us know if you have lost your C-card so that we have time to contact your certifying agency and help you get a replacement). In addition you need to bring such items as sunglasses, sunscreen, swimsuit and a camera. AquaMarine has underwater cameras available for rent at US$25/day - we suggest you bring your own film.

Beach Barbeque Trip Consist of 1dive at Gili Biaha, 1 dive at Blue Lagoon, Mimpang or Tepekong. After your dives a barbequed lunch will be served to you on the beach - grilled fish, satay, salads, with Balinese vegetables and sauces.
Canyon and Shark Point Day Trip: Diving at Mimpang and Tepekong. We can't guarantee that you will see sharks here but we will be extremely surprised if you don't! In the event that either location is undiveable, we will dive at Blue Lagoon, where reef sharks are also frequently seen
Mola-Mola (Oceanic Sunfish) Day Trip Diving at certain sites around Nusa Penida/Lembongan from late July to mid-November we have a very good chance of seeing these weird and wonderful pelagic visitors to Bali's waters.
Manta Point and Bat Cave Day Dive Trip Manta Point is where Manta Rays, Tuna and Tiger mackerel sometimes come in to feed. You have a good chance of seeing these pelagics, but it isn't guaranteed. The Bat Cave is on the north side of a small sheltered bay and, although the approach is from underwater, the cave is open to the sky. After visiting the Bat Cave, you will drift-dive along a wall which may yield Leopard sharks and Eagle rays. (note: early pick-up from your hotel).
Intro Dive Program AquaMarine offers a special one day diving program for guests who don't yet have a scuba-diving license, either because they don't have time for an Open Water course or who just want to try scuba-diving. We'll introduce them to the underwater world on the famous USAT Liberty Wreck, Tulamben. There’s no better place to fall in love with diving. Non-divers who try the one-day program can dive with our guides on a Dive Safari or Day Trip. This is a great option for non-divers joining a group of friends, their spouse, partner or parent. As an alternative, snorkeling is available at Tulamben, Amed, Padangbai and Menjangan so non-divers can often join day trips and safaris with AquaMarine Diving-Bali.
